Jon began his career as a special education teacher and transitioned to a 17-year administrative career within special education in both public and private, nonprofit leadership roles. Jon served for 12 years as the Executive Vice President of Heartspring in Wichita, KS, where he oversaw all professional services for both pediatric outpatient rehabilitation services and comprehensive residential/education services for children with severe disabilities including autism spectrum disorder. During his time at Heartspring, he led the organization to national accreditation and served as a member of the leadership team that designed, built and funded a new 38-acre campus.

Following his time in educational and nonprofit leadership, Jon began a 14-year period of professional association leadership. In his roles as the Executive Director of both the Medical Society of Sedgwick County and the Kansas Medical Society, Jon was actively engaged in health care policy issues, advancing public health initiatives as well as advocacy at the community, state and national levels. As a result of his knowledge and experience, he was appointed to various task forces by Kansas Governors Colyer and Kelly. Jon has a solid understanding of critical health care and public health policy issues.

Jon has been frequently recognized for his leadership skills and abilities and has served on many Boards of Directors of not-for-profit and for-profit organizations. Jon served on the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce Board for several years and was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2015. Additionally, as a member of the American Association of Medical Society Executives, he was elected to the Board of Directors and subsequently elected as its Board President from 2017-2018. He is a graduate of Leadership Kansas and served as a member of the Leadership Kansas Board of Directors.

Jon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University, a Master’s degree from Kansas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. In 2015, he was awarded the Alumni Achievement Award from his alma mater – Fort Hays State University.
