Bruce Scott, M.S.W.

Bruce has 34 years of total executive experience serving people with developmental disabilities. He was founder of a local trade association, served as board member and President of the state rehabilitation association, and is connected nationally through United Cerebral Palsy. He led a United Cerebral Palsy affiliate for 16 years.

The organization Bruce led provided both independent and group living services for individuals with special needs. He has experience in services that are funded through the Medicaid Waiver and are nationally accredited through CARF. He bas been involved with mergers and the expansion of specialty services.

Bruce was also active in trade associations as an executive director. He served as founder of a local trade association, as well as a board member and President of the state rehabilitation association. Bruce has served as President of the Board of Nonprofit Connect in Kansas City, one of many boards on which he has participated.

Creating and sustaining community support services for people with disabilities requires organizational skills, the ability to connect with many people, inspirational vision, and a commitment to quality of life for everyone. Bruce brings that commitment, as well as a belief in the power of community organizations and their leaders, to his executive recruiting and nonprofit consulting assignments. He continues to serve others by helping organizations identify and strengthen top leadership positions.

Decades of direct experience also gives Bruce an understanding of the complex and volatile turf of nonprofit executives. His discernment, listening skills, sense of humor, and patience are assets throughout the executive search process. In addition to his search work, Bruce also serves as a professional executive coach.

Bruce earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Missouri, Columbia, before launching his extensive career in services to people with developmental disabilities.
