Angie Heer is a nonprofit fundraising and marketing executive with more than 24 years of experience leading strategic and integrated fundraising, marketing and communications for nonprofits to increase financial support, community engagement, and brand awareness. Over her career, Angie has led teams in raising more than $112 million to advance gender equity, higher education, hunger relief, and affordable housing. Angie relishes in collaborating with stakeholders to increase the margin to accomplish an organization’s mission and is a firm believer in the power of stretch goals, curiosity, persistence, and candid communications.
Angie is the Founder & President of Lasting Impact LLC, a fundraising consulting firm that helps nonprofits diversify their fundraising revenue and focus on a relationship-based approach to maximize fundraising sustainability. Before starting her own business, Angie served as Chief Development Officer for United WE (United Women’s Empowerment) where she led fundraising, marketing, and communication strategies to increase revenue and strengthen the organization’s reputation and brand presence as it scaled nationwide to advance gender equity. Her leadership responsibilities included strategic fundraising planning, major gifts, coaching and mentoring a team of fundraising and communication professionals, developing fundraising volunteer leadership, and securing multi-year grants and corporate partnerships. During her tenure, she increased fundraising revenue by 150%.
In her previous role as Vice President for Advancement at Avila University, Angie led a team of professionals in implementing university fundraising, alumni, marketing, and communication strategies. Under her leadership, her team raised more than $52 million for university priorities. She also supported and engaged the board of trustees and other volunteer leaders in accomplishing advancement goals. She served as a member of Avila University’s board nominating committee and led and participated in multiple executive search committees for C-Suite university positions.
Earlier in her career, Angie also served as Director of Fund Development for Harvesters, Kansas City’s food bank, for a decade. She developed strategy and led a team of fundraising professionals in growing the organization’s annual fundraising from $2 million to $11 million annually.
Angie holds an M.A. in management with an emphasis in fundraising from Avila University and a B.S.B.A. in marketing from the University of Missouri Trulaske School of Business. She has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2008. In 2016, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Mid-America Chapter recognized her with its Excellence in Fundraising Award, and in 2014, she was recognized by KC Business Magazine as an Influential Business Woman.
Angie has served as a board member of The Don Bosco Centers, Northland Community Foundation, and Feed Northland Kids. Angie resides in Kansas City, Missouri, and when not working, she can usually be found on a soccer field with her husband and two children.
