John Gravley, D.Min.

John has 20+ years of executive leadership and nonprofit fundraising experience in the U.S., Asia and Guatemala. He ran a social service NGO in Hong Kong for almost 8 years and led fund development programs for a graduate school, a NGO providing educational programs in Guatemala and a New York based advocacy program.

His work in Hong Kong involved merging three different services and boards into one local agency that supported the various social services and educational programs. This required navigating sensitive cultural concerns and finding a solution that would support the long-term success of the new organization.

While fundraising has been a part of all of his work, he focused more specifically in this area over the past 14 years, growing and managing successful fundraising programs.  He has managed capital campaigns both as staff and consultant. He enjoys working with major donors and creating successful grants.

Working both in faith-based organizations and non-sectarian advocacy organizations is rooted in John’s particular interest in justice and focus on under-resourced individuals. John enjoys advocating for those outside of the mainstream. As a Senior Search Consultant with the Moran Company, he uses that same philosophy in the search process.

John earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City and his undergraduate degree from Furman University in South Carolina.  He is on the board of Friends of Burma, an organization supporting various welfare and educational programs in Myanmar.
