Kathryn Evans, M.P.A., has more than a decade of experience working with nonprofit organizations. During that time, she has held leadership roles in both management and fundraising and has held several board leadership roles, including serving as President of the board of Reconciliation Services. She has direct experience in health and human service delivery, strategic planning, program evaluation, and leadership development, as well as a passion for community organizing and equity. Kathryn believes that the right nonprofit leaders can influence positive change in our world and brings an energetic and collaborative approach to her work as a Senior Search Consultant with The Moran Company.

Kathryn also founded her own company called Rooted Strategy that provides strategy, planning, and management solutions to help nonprofits grow and thrive. Prior to starting her own company, Kathryn established new systems for communications, fundraising, and volunteer leadership as the first Director of Development at Amethyst Place, an organization dedicated to reuniting families separated by addiction. As the former Director of Education and Planning at United Community Services of Johnson County, Kathryn designed and implemented several multi-sector regional planning initiatives including the Johnson County Health Equity Network and the Transitional-Age Youth Planning Project. Kathryn began her career as a community organizer where she taught leaders to advocate for themselves and taught organizations to work collaboratively across lines of cultural, racial, religious, and economic difference.

Kathryn earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri’s Truman School of Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s degree in English and Religious Studies from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Kathryn’s volunteer activities are focused on supporting the well-being and leadership of women of color in Kansas City. She mentors and coaches Black women executive directors in local nonprofits to increase their skills and confidence. She also volunteers at Uzazi Village, which is a nonprofit dedicated to reducing maternal and child health disparities in the Black community. In her free time, she enjoys active social activities such as bike rides and roller-skating. Kathryn lives in Kansas City Hyde Park neighborhood with her spouse and daughter.
